Town Museum & Museum Depot Trofaiach
The town museum of local history is located in Castle Stibichhofen right in the city centre. The museum focuses on:
- Historical costumes of the region around the Styrian Ore Mountain from the folkloristic collection of the merchant Franz Hofer
- Folkloristic medicine: you’ll find the original interior of the local pharmacy of 1904 and valuable medical devices and utensils from the well known doctors Adam von Lebenwald and Dr. Schlömmer from the 19th century
- the department for archeology is well known for its artefacts from pre- and early history such as findings of the hilltop site at the Kulm near Trofaiach from 800 BC
Part of the museum is the exhibition centre in the depot
of the museum (formerly known as transformer station east). Points of attraction are the accessible depot and the extensive library with main focus on Trofaiach, the Iron Road, historical costumes, traditional customs and literature on Styria.
