Pilgrimage Church Maria Freienstein
High above St. Peter-Freienstein…
…the pilgrimage Church Maria Seven Pains is the symbol of the community and marks the entrance to the Styrian Iron Road in HerzBergLand.
The former defense- and castle building testifies to the montanistic history of the region and is the symbol of belief for the faithful who have been making pilgrimages on the little mountain for many centuries. Even today lots of inhabitants of the community have a deep and personal relationship to the holy place.
Re-decoration works that started in 2008 shall be finished for the 300 year-celebration in 2018.
